February in Dublin, Ireland (A Quick Trip)

The things that are important in life creep up on one unawared, one doesn’t expect them, one hasn’t given them shape in one’s mind. One recognizes them, when they’ve appeared, that’s all.
— Doris Lessing

We spent a few days in Dublin, Ireland in February, which I know seems somewhat random. There was a wedding photography conference thatI really wanted to attend (Doc Day) and when we realized how cheap the airfare was, we decided to bring the whole family.

Truthfully, the weather was tough (so. much. wind.) and I had a hard time adjusting to the time change, but all in all we still had a good trip.

We spent a day exploring the city and another day exploring the Wicklow Mountains on a bus tour (I’m not usually a bus tour fan, but driving on the other side of the road scares me). We learned about Vikings and the Irish revolution and ate lots of fish and chips and drank little bottles of Coke. We also saw a family having a “beach” day, complete with wetsuits and sand toys, in weather we could barely stand straight in, while some older folks were swimming. Crazy world out there. I feel like a wimp.
