10 Happy Things for March

HAPPY MARCH!

And happy almost-spring!! I'm excited for warmer weather and longer days - what about you?

10 HAPPY THINGS

As always, this list is pretty random, but hopefully something will make you smile.
-------
1. Too true. (I just bought one of these and the whole family LOVES it).
-------
2. I was fascinated by the New Yorker's profile of "the radical woman behind Goodnight Moon" (who knew Margaret Wise Brown was so cool?).

On a sadder note, the New Yorker's photo series of teen lives interrupted by covid really resonated with me.
-------
3. Off the beaten path museums in DC.
-------
4. This book series sounds interesting.
-------

5. I just blogged a new reading, watching, listening post full of lots of great suggestions. Please check it out!!
-------
6. I can't wait!!

Also, I want to visit all the places on this VA travel bucket list.
-------
7. I love all of these romantic date-night-in menus (and can't wait to try a few!)
-------
8. 100 ways to slightly improve your life without really trying.
-------
9. Aren't these fake flowers beautiful? And these too.
------

10. The hidden mothers of family photos. Seriously, moms, get in the photo!! (I say this despite the fact I rarely post photos of myself).

BUSINESS UPDATE

***PRICING CHANGES FOR FAMILY SESSIONS ***

I'm trying something new this year and pricing family sessions by season ("off", "regular", and "peak") in an effort to spread my business across the year (sort of like hotels).

I'm not sure how well it will work (this is a trial phase), but every autumn I'm so busy that I turn down about 60% of inquiries, so if anyone would like to consider a winter, spring, or summer session hopefully this will incentivize you.

You can see my new prices here (the rates are all similar to last year except for "peak" season rates).

-------
FAMILY & COUPLES SESSION AVAILABILITY

Weekends are almost full through summer, though I still have lots of weekday availability.

These are the weekends I currently have open:

Sunday, May 1 (afternoon only)

Sunday, June 5
Sunday, June 12
-------
FOR WEDDINGS - 2022 IS REALLY FULL (though I still have a few openings) & I'M BOOKING INTO 2023!

I have 36 weddings booked for next year and most of my peak season Saturdays are full (though I still have a few available).

Also, if you're thinking of eloping or planning a mirco-wedding, please get in touch - I have lots of advice/suggestions!

RECENT TESTIMONIALS

As cliched as it sounds, reviews mean the world to small businesses like mine, so THANK YOU AGAIN to everyone who wrote one!!

The lovely Darcy Troutman photographed my elopement last May. I can’t tell you what a pleasure it was getting to meet her. She is extremely skilled behind the lens. She helped my husband (a hardcore introvert) come out of his shell for the photo shoot. She was kind and understanding the whole time. The photo results were timely and just so beautiful. I will only book Darcy for photo shoots going forward- I don’t need to look anywhere else. Thank you Darcy. A near year later and I look back on all the photos so very fondly. - Cristi

We feel so lucky to have happened across Darcy's website when we were on the search for our engagement and wedding photographer for our wedding last November. I immediately fell in love with her style and knew I wanted to book her.

Darcy has an amazing eye and is so good at her job that (and this sounds bad, but is a quality I didn't even know I should look for in a photographer) she's completely inconspicuous while she's doing her job.

Darcy captured moments of our day that I had forgotten about until we saw our photos. Thank you, Darcy. We would love to use you again and again as we grow our family. - Alexis

Recently worked with Darcy for this year's family photos and we could not be happier with both the experience and photos themselves, oh, and a video too! First, Darcy asked us to complete a questionnaire and we could tell that she took our feedback into consideration throughout the whole experience. Second, we are family with two smaller humans who can sometimes be shy in these circumstances; however, Darcy just jumped in as. soon. as. she. walked. in. the. door. and kids immediately took to her and her playful approach. It was great! We wanted more candid than posed photos, and Darcy captured so many great moments, expressions, reactions. Our session also included going to a nearby playground, and again, she was running around with us at certain points as we and the kids goofed off. Darcy also aptly recognized the holy grail of one family photo where everyone is sitting and looking in the same freaking direction - and she saw the opportunity to capture this moment after we had calmed down from our playground jaunt. We definitely recommend her for family photos and look forward to working with her again! - Rachel
