10 Happy Things for December

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Now that my busy season is ending our family has some fun trips planned throughout the next three months and I can't wait to reconnect with my kids and husband!! What about everyone else? Any seasonal plans?

10 HAPPY THINGS

Between editing, photographing family/wedding/engagement sessions, dealing with the chaos of Taylor Swift concert tickets, and World Cup enthusiasm I haven't been on the internet as much as usual - but still I managed to discover the random "happiness" posted below:

-------

1. Currently Reading. Listening. Watching (is anyone else watching this? And could there be clues in the art?)
-------
2. Lots of lists - NPR's Books We Love (updated through the end of the year). Wash Post's 10 Best Books. Time Magazine's 100 Must Reads of 2022. NY Time's 10 Best Books (did anyone else not really love the Candy House?). NY Times notable books. Best TV shows (Paste). Best albums (Paste). Best TV shows (New Yorker). 10 Best Books (Slate).
-------
3. I found this relatable.
------
4. As a former fan of early-2000s reality TV, I'm loving this podcast, a great behind the scenes of what "real" may mean.

I was also happily surprised by how much the whole family enjoyed Spirited.
-------
5. My absolute favorite holiday gift guide. Also Etsy's gift guide.
-------
6. I enjoyed this youtube video about visiting Arlington (America's fittest city) - sometimes it's so easy to forget the great things about living here.

Also, the 10 best restaurants in Arlington.
-------
7. Where to go in 2023 (I really really want to see Malta!)
-------
8. Winter salad round-up.
-------
9. There's so many great things to do around DC for the holidays this year.

I really want to check out Georgetown Glow and the Winter Lantern festival (and maybe more of Also, the DMV's best light displays). I'm also loving the idea of a Taylor Swift themed holiday cocktail bar.
------
10. These musical "blueprints" are sort of fascinating to peruse.
------

RECENT TESTIMONIALS

As cliched as it sounds, reviews mean the world to small businesses like mine - so THANK YOU again to everyone who wrote one!!
______

My husband and I cannot say enough amazing things about Darcy! From the very beginning we chose her after reading her blog and looking at her photos - we didn't want structured, staged photographs of our wedding but instead wanted a photographer who would focus on documenting the day as we will remember it.
We talked multiple times before the wedding day and she was so open to our vision of the day. My husband feels terribly uncomfortable as the center of attention, and Darcy was so open, understanding, and interested in thinking of ways to make him feel more comfortable. She was dedicated to learning the names of important guests, understanding some family drama, and made me feel at ease.

On the day of, she was INCREDIBLE! She was so friendly and so open that we immediately felt comfortable around her. She was super flexible and went with the flow while maintaining control over different groups of people for photos. She even got my dog to pose and look at the camera! When the photos arrived . . . we literally screamed at each photograph because of their beauty and the way they captured our special moment. 100000% recommend for your photographer if you are interested in documenting the day and not just the details.

Darcy and her colleague Nina are wonderful people and top-notch photographers. We couldn't be happier with our wedding photos and would recommend Darcy to anyone. She made the whole process easy and captured the day in an authentic, beautiful way.
