Snapshots of our August & September (Arlington, VA and beyond)

Life isn’t a train.
It’s a shit tornado full of gold.

I’m surprised by how few personal photos I took in August & September.

Once work starts to pick up (as it always does in the late summer/early fall) I tend to document my family less. But, still, there are almost no photos of our daily life (maybe I’ve become too content with instagram stories).

For the most part, August was pretty relaxing. Friends came to visit with their adorable toddler (pictured below with Trout). And Freya and I spent two nights camping with friends at at Kiptopeke State Park in Cape Charles, VA (I love this place). We had a great time, despite rainy days and super hot nights. The kids and Dan spent a week at Smith Mountain Lake with Dan’s parents and brother’s family (I had to work).

Even the Arlington County Fair seemed mellow this year - as the kids all went with their friends, while Dan and I chilled at the (new!!) beer tent across the street.

In September, school started (8th, 7th, and 5th grades) - see photo below of Trout and Parker fighting as I try to take first day photos. And then our lives resumed the routine that the school year always brings - along with volleyball, flag football, and soccer.
