Snapshots of our April & May (Arlington, VA)

Motherhood is like that one dream you had when you were 16 where you have this big test at school in history. You study for weeks about the American Revolution, but when you get to your chair you find out that the test was actually in math. So now you’re stuck trying to figure out the square root of an elephant multiplied by the weight of a neutron star and it isn’t until after the test is over that you find out the answer was Purple.

As the kids grow older they’ve become trickier to photograph - more aware of how they look. And, often, Freya won’t let me post any photos of her. I know this shouldn’t be so hard, but it feels sad to stop documenting my family after so many years. Growing pains, I guess. Luckily, this business allow me to photograph other families and I cannot even begin to explain how much joy that gives me.

On the upside, we had some really fun times in April and May. I managed to take a car full of boys to the cherry blossoms during peak season (though I’m not sure I’d do it again). I finally saw Glenstone in the spring (so pretty!!). We made it through another season of sports (lacrosse and soccer) and cheered Freya on at her flute concert & NJHS induction and Parker at the school play (Freaky Friday). Plus the usual happy hours and nights out.

All in all a beautiful spring, though I’m totally ready for summer.
