10 Happy Things for September
/HAPPY SEPTEMBER
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm ready for: back to school, cooler weather, long dog walks, reading books on the porch, and maybe a fall festival or two (so many great options).
And, as always, photographing wonderful weddings and families.
10 HAPPY THINGS
As always, this list is pretty random, but hopefully something on it will bring you joy!
1. September mornings.
2. Currently Reading. Watching. Listening (memoir). Listening (podcast). Listening (music).
3. Our next door neighbors at L’Arche put together this wonderful video on loneliness that includes many of our neighbors. I highly suggest watching it and getting involved (or, at least, thinking about what they have to say).
4. Lloyd Wolf's documentary photos are always amazing, esp. these of the DC Occupation.
5. How cute is this Paris meets Prairie cabin in Montana?
6. Humans of New York has been interviewing aid workers in Gaza their stories are heartbreaking and beautiful.
"I’ve co-managed a team that built a field hospital with 120 beds, and three surgical theaters running 24 hours. This is something I’ll be proud of for years and years. And I hope one day Rita will understand. I’ll ask her to read books and watch documentaries about the genocide. I’ll ask her to understand that I couldn’t close my eyes to the suffering of our people. We must resist. And how do we resist? By existing. And how do we exist? By having a value. And in our family, our value is to serve others, more than we serve ourselves.”
7. A few weekends ago, at a wedding I was photographing, an older women wore this jacket and my second photographer (Christian) and I couldn't stop reading it - such fun energy (I just wish it was a little cheaper).
8. 30 Ridiculously Fun Party Games You've Probably Never Played Before.
9. This bookclub summer camp for adults sounds like my dream vacation (gift article). Also, I really want to visit these 7 state parks. And I loved the Times profile of Zagori, Greece (check out my photos from when we hiked there a few years ago).
10. I was recently interviewed by Bold Journey - you can read my story here.
Further, there are a lot of new weddings up on my blog - including a gorgeous golden hour elopement at Sky Meadows State Park and a flower-filled party wedding at Josephine Butler Parks Center. Also, some highlights from our family trip to Chicago and Lollapalooza.

Darcy is absolutely incredible! She took family photos for us, and not only did the pictures turn out beautifully — they’re our favorite ones we’ve ever had — but the whole experience was a joy. Our kids had such a great time with her they kept asking about her after she left! She made everyone feel at ease right away, and her turnaround time was super fast. Couldn’t recommend her more highly! - Katherine

We did a mini family session with Darcy and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The photos we received (super quickly!) are absolutely beautiful and will be cherished forever. Darcy was so easy to work with and super patient with us as we figured out a time and location for our shoot. We would definitely work with Darcy again in the future! - Jenna
