10 Happy Things for May
/HAPPY MAY
Trying to concentrate on the positive this month - how about everyone else?
10 HAPPY THINGS
As always, this list is pretty random, but hopefully something on it will bring you joy!
1. Not so humble brag - I've never met anyone who works as hard as my husband, Dan, so it was pretty cool to see him shouted out last month in the NY Times as the lead FTC litigator in the Meta trial.
------
2. Currently Reading (had anyone else read this? I really want to discuss with someone). Watching. Listening.
------
3. OK Go does it again (how fun is this video?). Also, I'm obsessed with Mt. Joy's new song.
------
4. Wow - these photos!
And, the Pope's favorite painting.
------
5. I really enjoyed this New Yorker article on mistaking Mary Magdalene. Also, does the Knot have a fake brides problem?
------
6. Since we travel a lot, I'm always looking for a good duffel and this one has been perfect so far (I even bought a second one to use as a camera bag).
------
7. Loving this super easy meal. Also, I made this for a dinner party last week and it was so good! And how yummy does charred salt and vinegar cabbage sound?
------
8. Trout, Parker, and I spent spring break in Paris with friends (Freya couldn't come because she was at college and Dan missed out because he was in trial) check out more photos and stories here.
Also, right before that I vacationed in Sedona with my college roommate (more photos here). Basically, I tried to make the most of my "off" season and 100% succeeded.
------
9. How to be happy. Plus, what does it mean to be the happiest country on earth?
------
10. Domestic bliss (does anyone else remember Buns of Steel?)

10 THINGS ABOUT ME
I thought I’d try something different this month . . .
______
1. I was named after Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice (thank you Marge (my mom))!
2. As a family of five, we've traveled to 16 countries together. And 36 states.
3. My favorite food is tabuloi (my best friend growing up was Syrian and her mom would always make it for us).
4. We currently have two rescue dogs named Sassy and Happy. Sassy is more dopey than she is sassy. And Happy is more snobby than she is happy. But we still love them both.
5. My favorite movies ever are Pretty in Pink and Before Sunrise. And my favorite books are Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan novels.
6. I'm an INFJ (as are a surprising number of other wedding photographers). Before I became a photographer I was a scientist (I majored in Chemistry) and a lawyer (I met my husband at University of Michigan law school), so it took me awhile to find my passion. But I love this career so much more than the ones that came before (I also really love owning my own business).
7. At an average 7 hour wedding, the second photographer and I shoot approximately 6000-7000 photos. And for a 45 minute family session I shoot about 800-1200 photos. So a lot of this job is culling. So. much. culling!!
8. Dan and my 20 year wedding anniversary is in less than a month. Our wedding was a super small affair in a good friend's backyard. I was five months pregnant and my dress didn't really fit. I also (gasp) didn't hire a wedding photographer. All that being said, it was an amazing day. And I can't believe I'll soon have a 20 year old daughter (who is one of the coolest people I've ever met).
9. I've been on GLP1s for the last year (hence why I look a little different) and zoloft for the last two years (hence why I'm less sad). It's not my place to tell anyone what is right or not right for them, but I really hate how both these drugs have been stigmatized. Figure out what works best for you and be comfortable with your decision, there is no "right" answer.
10. Can we all acknowledge that Talking Head's "This Must Be the Place" is pretty much a perfect song? As is New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle?"
HAVE A GREAT MONTH!
