Snapshots of our January (Arlington, VA)

Taking my time, let the world turn
I’m gonna do it my way, it’ll be alright
If we burn it down and it takes all night
It’s a slow burn

January was all sorts of mellow and I kind of loved it. Maybe I’m finally embracing hygge. Dan spent the month litigating a trial in CA and the kids and I chillaxed. I even managed to make it to Spa World twice (love that place!).

There were a few days of beautiful weather during the winter break - so we spent an afternoon exploring Prince William Forest Park (love that place). And lots of intermittent snow days and delayed starts throughout the month (I feel like my kids barely went to school in January), which really means lots of late night movies and sleeping in. And lots of basketball (Parker’s team even played during halftime during the Georgetown women’s game).

I spent the month trying to drink less and eat better (I know, such a cliche, but still one must try . . . ). And then “splurged” on an awesome winery day with good friends. Since we had kids right after moving to VA, I feel like I missed out on the just-married winery years and am now trying to make up for lost time.

Dan’s a government lawyer and the shutdown had us a little stressed, thus we’re glad that resolved itself (for now).

But all in all, a mellow month. And I loved it (wow, maybe I am getting old).
