15 HAPPY THINGS

I hope you all are having a great summer! I'm still adjusting to the new "normal", but I'm really happy to be back at work and photographing families and weddings again - I missed seeing all the love!!

Here are some happy things:

1. I just binge-read this book and LOVED IT (one of the best books I've ever read)!

Also, have you seen this movie? It made me happy.

For other things I've recently read/watched/listed to - please check out my blogpost here.

2. I wish we were at the beach right now (it's so HOT!!), but instead I'm hoping to swim at one of these places.

3. We just spent a few nights here and had so much fun (and, yes, now I keep playing the soundtrack over and over)! Hoping to share photos soon.

4. Further, since we're staying closer to home this summer, I'm hoping to check out some new-to-me state parks (Virginia is such a beautiful place). (By the way, the photos at the top of the post were taken in Sandbridge, VA and the photos at the bottom are from Dolly Sodds and Seneca Rocks, WV).

5. I'm enjoying this cookbook/travel memoir. It makes me feel like I'm visiting a small European village.

6. Thirty-Plus Black Owned Children's Brands (be careful, you could go broke with this link).

7. I finally blogged some recent family sessions, click here to check them out.

8. I love a list. Here are a few new ones for mid-2020 - (1) The 10-Plus Best Albums of 2020 so far; (2) 21 Best Books of 2020: The Books Getting Us Through This Wild Year (So Far); (3) The Best Movies of the Year (So Far); (4) 21 Best Netflix Shows of 2020 (so far).

9. Not sure this counts as happy per se, but it's one of the best articles I've read this year. ("This is the world I let be created. Under my watch. They know this. They blame me for it. They are right. It hurts my heart. Also, would you like dinner? What movie should we watch? Tell me about your day. Parenting, like life, is heartbreak followed by reality, followed by love, followed by loneliness, followed by despair, followed by jokes, followed by exhaustion. If this is what you are experiencing, you are doing it right. If you are returning over and over again to watch the simple miracle of growth, you are doing it right.")

10. Nursing home residents recreate classic rock album covers.

11. If the above link wasn't awesome enough for you, then how about this? - Elderly Couple Has Fashion Photo Shoots Using Clothing Left Behind in Their Laundromat.

12. Spot on (and still funny).

13. Have you seen the window-swap website? I'm addicted. (Thanks Kidfriendly DC for the link!)

14. I find this to be the perfect summer dinner/appetizer.

15. When two Cirque Cirque du Soleil performers fall in love and decide to elope you know it’s going to be amazing! So exciting to see my work featured!!
